Berlin Tallies Singles Victory; Briggs Appears in Doubles, Singles Finals

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Senior Sydney Berlin collected a singles win and Carly Briggs made it to both the singles and doubles finals of competition on the final day of the Kitty Harrison Invitational hosted by North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 26.
Alicia Dudeney and Briggs claimed were the runners-up in doubles after totaling a 3-1 record over the weekend. They made it all the way to the finals before dropping a tough match to Casie Wooten and Samantha Martinelli of Wake Forest.
Briggs' strong tournament run also led her to the singles finals as she was runner-up to No. 82 Elizabeth Scotty of North Carolina. The junior tallied a 3-1 singles record and a 5-2 sets record on the weekend.
Berlin put together a demanding singles win on the final day of competition as she defeated Mariana Velasquez of Kansas by two scores of 6-3. Overall, the Gators recorded 13 total victories at the Kitty Harrison Invitational, with 10 of those coming from singles play.
Florida travels to Tampa next weekend for the Bedford Cup on Friday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Oct. 3.
