
Gators Open 2026 Spring Season With 6-1 Road Win Over Charleston Southern

Charleston, S.C. — The Florida Women's Tennis Team opened its 2026 spring campaign with a 6-1 road win over Charleston Southern Saturday afternoon.
Doubles
Freshman Brooke Black and junior Valery Gynina got the Gators on the board early shutting out the Bucs number two doubles team of Brenda Yoris and Carlé Botha, 6-0. Sophomore Gabia Paskauskas and freshman Lucie Pawlak teamed up at number three doubles to dispatch Camila Molina and Amike Botha, 6-2. With the doubles point clinched, senior Xinyi Nong and sophomore Nikola Daubnerova's number one doubles match against Marina Skegro and Carlota Farres was stopped with the Gators leading 5-2.
Singles
Nong, ranked 86th in the nation entering the spring, made quick work of C. Botha at number five singles 6-0, 6-0, and 105th ranked Daubnerova bested A. Botha, 6-0, 6-2 at number six. Pawlak dropped just two games in her 6-1, 6-1 win over Molina in the fourth spot, while Gynina, ranked 118th in the country, topped Skegro in the top slot 6-3, 6-1. At number two singles, Paskauskas, ranked 11th in the nation, took care of Yoris 6-2, 6-3. Black and Farres split their first two sets at number three singles forcing a third set super tiebreak with Farres coming out on top with the 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5) victory.
