2002: Made nine appearances all in relief... Had a 4.02 ERA in 15.2 innings of work... Struck out 11 without allowing a walk... Came out of the bullpen in NCAA Regional vs. Miami June 2 and fired a career-high 6.1 innings, giving up eight hits and four runs while striking out six... Appeared in SEC Tournament game and fired a perfect inning vs. Alabama May 25... Did not allow a hit and struck out one in 1.2 innings vs. Austin Peay March 9... In five of his nine appearances he did not allow a run... Of the 16 base hits he allowed only four were for extra bases.
2001: Appeared in six games as a sophomore, striking out eight batters in 7.2 innings... Started first career game, went 2.2 innings, gave up five hits, three runs, struck out two vs. Florida A&M April 4... Struck out career-high four batters in 1.1 inning performance vs. Maine March 21... Saw first game action Feb. 3 vs. Miami.
1999-2000 AT HILLSBOROUGH C.C.: Played one year at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Fla. for head coach Gary Calhoun... Finished season 5-2 with 5.13 ERA, one save and 57 strikeouts in 12 appearances and eight games started... Majored in Justice Administration and was named a Scholar-Athlete.
SUMMER: Played his 2002 summer with Florida teammates Mario Garza and Ben Harrison with the Hyannis Mets of the Cape Cod League... Made 14 appearances on the mound with Hyannis and went 2-1 in two starts and 33.1 innings... Struck out 35 and walked just 10... Played for Tampa Boys and Girls Club American Legion team in 1999... Went 10-0 with 0.64 ERA and struck out 96 batters in 10 starts.
PREP: A 1999 graduate of Gaither High School in Tampa, Fla. where he played baseball for head coach Frank Permuy... Named All-Hillsborough County, all-conference and All-Sun Coast as a senior in 1999... Finished season with 1.10 ERA, 6-2 record, six saves and struck out 67 batters in 14 appearances and four starts as a senior... Earned two letters... Named Senior Class Vice President.
