Birch played a key role in the Gator bullpen last season after transferring from Santa Fe C.C. and finished with a 6-0 record and 3.79 ERA.
2000: Became the first pitcher in Florida history to post a perfect record with at least one inning pitched per game...Made 29 appearances out of the bullpen...Posted a 6-0 record with three saves in 73.2 innings of work with a 3.79 ERA...Led the SEC with 15 pickoffs and ranked seventh in appearances (29)...Finished second on team with three saves...Six wins ranked third in the team...Pitched six relief innings in the SEC Championship Game vs. LSU while only giving up one earned run on six hits...Earned save with 3.2 innings out of the bullpen against South Florida...Improved to 6-0 with a win in relief against Tennessee (4/23), going 3.1 innings while giving up three runs all earned...Picked up win against Stetson (4/12) after pitching three innings and allowing one run on three hits...Earned win against Arkansas (3/24) after pitching four innings and giving up one run on four hits...Earned first career SEC victory, while ending South Carolina's 22-game winning steak (3/19)...Had a season-high seven strikeouts against Ole Miss (3/12)....Claimed first win against UMass (3/5), allowing just one run over 3.2 innings with four strikeouts...Earned first save with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief against UMass (3/4)...Pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four runs on six hits against UNCG (3/1)...Made first career appearance against top-ranked Florida State (2/19), pitching five scoreless innings with just two hits and three strikeouts.
