AS A FRESHMAN (2013): Named to the SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll… Played in 24 games, with five starts (three at catcher and two as the Gators’ designated hitter)… Hit .184 (7-for-38) with six runs, five RBI, two walks and one sacrifice hit… Saw time in seven SEC games, starting the series finale against No. 10 Kentucky on St. Patrick’s Day… .Was 1-for-9 (.111) in league play and drove in one run… Went 2-for-4 with a leadoff single in the fourth inning and an RBI single in the sixth inning and scored twice against Florida A&M… Had an RBI single in the ninth inning of the third game at No. 3 LSU… Came through with a pinch-hit single that brought across classmate Harrison Bader in the eighth stanza of the 12-1 victory over USF… Went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and scored in the 6-4 win over Indiana… Doubled to left center and scored on a single by classmate Brady Roberson in the second meeting with FGCU… Had a run-scoring single and scored twice as the Gators claimed the rubber game of their season-opening series against Duke.
HIGH SCHOOL: Catcher from The King’s Academy who played for head coach Doug Magaw… Led the Lions to three-consecutive appearances in the regional finals and finished with a career batting average of .405 after making the varsity team as an eighth-grader… Was a second-team All-American by the National Christian School Athletic Association (NCSAA) and was a member of the organization’s Southeast Super-Region Team last spring… Three-time Sun Sentinel all-area and Palm Beach Post all-county recipient from 2010-12… Named the 2012 Palm Beach Post Small Schools Player of the Year and was chosen as the Class 5A-4A-3A Player of the Year from the Sun Sentinel… Batted .412 with a .624 slugging percentage, a .537 on-base percentage, 30 RBI, seven doubles and three triples in his final prep season, when he was his team’s Most Valuable Player… Also drew 21 walks and scored 21 runs… Hit .423 with runners in scoring position… His final high school hit was a two-run homer against St. Petersburg Catholic in the Class 3A regional finals, his squad’s only runs in a 3-2, 10-inning defeat… Participated in the Dick Howser High School All-Star Game… Second-team choice on Rawlings/Perfect Game Preseason Florida All-Region Team prior to his senior year… Received a Gold Glove for outstanding defense at The King’s Academy five-consecutive seasons and was the club’s RBI King as both a junior and a senior… Caught 15 of 18 runners attempting to steal during his junior season… Also played football for the Lions.
