- First arrived on campus August 28, 2016 for the 2016 Fall semester
- All the members of her family have competed in athletics
- Her sister Ece, who is seven years older, plays professional basketball, having a four-year stint and Canada before returning to Turkey and Galatasaray; her father played soccer when he was younger
- Fluent in Turkish and English and very comfortable with Spanish
SOPHOMORE YEAR (2017-18)
- Led UF in assists vs. Chattanooga (3) & St. Joe’s (4) - first times in career led team in a stat category
- Season-high of three points versus Georgia State and Marshall
- DNP last 12 games (sore back)
- Appeared in 19 of 31 games, 9 in SEC action
- Totaled 13 points with career-best five coming vs. Long Beach State (Dec. 3)
- Scored in 4 games
- Sidelined for approximately four weeks and missed 10 games with a broken bone in her right foot (first game missed: at FSU, Dec. 8)
PRIOR TO UF:
- Starter and team captain for the Galatasaray U18 and U16 teams that won the Turkish national championship, equivalent to winning a high school title in the United States
- At the 2014 U16 European Championships, Portakal averaged 6.9 points during the 22 minutes she averaged over Turkey’s nine games, converting 6-of-13 three-pointers (45.7 percent).
- Played in the 2015 FIBA 3x3 U18 World Championships and her strengths were noted as her shooting, 1-on-1 abilities and passing skills
