Won the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke races at the New Zealand National Time Trial events with times of 54.41 and 2L01.00, respectively… Placed 11th and set a personal-best time in the 100-meter backstroke at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships… Competed in two events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games… Swept New Zealand’s backstroke titles at the 2014 National Championships, as he clocked times of 54.47 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and 2:00.40 in the 200-yard backstroke.
At Florida
2015-2016:
NCAA Championships: Contributed to 123 of the third-place finishing Florida Men’s team points… was a member in three of UF’s Top-5 finishing relay squads, swimming to a third-place finish in the 400 Free Relay (2:47.16), fourth-place-tying 200 Free Relay (1:16.21), and fifth-place finishing 400 Medley Relay (3:05.19)… individually, finished with All-America honors in the 200 Back, clocking a time of 1:41.36… also placed 22nd in the 50 Free, clocking a 19.59… SEC Championships: Helped registered 321 of UF’s 1,275 team points on their way to a fourth-straight SEC Championship… claimed SEC Titles as a member of the 200 MR (1:23.69), 200 FR (1:16.46), and 400 MR (3:03.86)… finished second in the 400 FR (2:50.30) and added Top-10 finishes in the 50-Free (5th, 19.36), 100 Back (6th, 46.26), and 100 Back (6th, 46.26)… top time in the 50 Free (19.36) ranks fourth in UF history… holds UF’s seventh-fastest time in the 100 Back (46.25)… swam UF’s fifth-fastest all-time 200 Back at the NCAA Championships (1:40.74)… holds UF records in the 200 and 400 FR and the 400 MR… Honors: Named to All-SEC First Team…
2014-15:
NCAA Championships: Earned four All-American honors as a member of four relay squads… Main was a contributor on UF’s seventh-place 200-yard medley (1:24.16) and 800-yard freestyle (6:17.12) relay teams and 10th-place 200-yard (1:17.35) and 400-yard (2:50.63) freestyle relays squads… Individually, Main clocked times of 19.58, 46.43 and 1:41.74 in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke prelims… SEC Championships: Placed fifth in the 100-yard backstroke (46.52), eighth in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:37.33) and backstroke (1:43.16) events… Also was a member of Florida’s third-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:17.60) and fifth-place 200-yard medley relay team (1:24.95)… Finished with seven individual wins and was part of 13 first-place relay teams during the dual meets and invitational competition… Honors: Four-time All-American… Second Team All-SEC.
2013-14:
NCAA Championships: Earned four All-American honors and contributed on three top-eight relays… Was a member of the Gators’ SEC and school-record 800-yard freestyle relay championship team (6:13.03), the school record and NCAA runner-up 400-yard medley relay team (3:04.77) and UF’s fifth-place 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:16.98) that set a school record of 1:16.52 in the prelims… Individually at the NCAA’s, Main placed 16th in the 200-yard backstroke (1:42.59) and 20th in the 100-yard backstroke with a mark of 46.45 seconds… SEC Championships: Finished seventh in the 100-yard backstroke (46.86) and eighth in the 200-yard freestyle (1:36.47)… Placed first in five events at the All-Florida Invite, including the 200-yard freestyle (1:37.69) and the 100-yard backstroke (47.70)... Totaled 12 individual wins and had a hand in 19 first-place relay events in dual and invitational meets… Honors: Earned four All-American honors.
2013:
NCAA Championships: Earned NCAA All-American first-team accolades on three relays, as well as one individual honor, as he placed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:41.69… Regarding the All-American relay teams, Main swam the back leg on the seventh-place 400-yard medley relay (3:08.40) and the second leg on the eighth-place 200-yard freestyle relay (1:17.97)… SEC Championships: Finished fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a personal-best time of 46.84 seconds… Honors: Earned four All-American honors.
Prior to Florida:
A member of the New Zealand National Team… Qualified for the 2012 FINA Short Course World Championships… In the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, Main won three gold medals and a bronze as he was a part of the men’s 4x200-meter free relay team… High school coach was Jana Korbasova … Swam with the Howick Pakuranga Swim Club under Korbasova… Parents are David and Tracy.
