Florida, South Carolina Square Off in Sunday Contest

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 14 University of Florida men's tennis team looks to end a two match skid with an SEC showdown on Sunday afternoon with the South Carolina Gamecocks. The Gators are now 7-2 in conference play and 12-6 overall in the 2016 season.
Florida was edged by the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday night in Athens, Ga., 5-2. After securing a back-and-forth doubles, the Gators were only able to get one singles victory from senior Diego Hidalgo. South Carolina is coming off a close win over the Auburn Tigers on Friday night, 4-3 in Columbia.
The Orange and Blue will return home next weekend to face the Kentucky Wildcats and the Tennessee Volunteers. The match with the Volunteers on Sunday at 1 p.m. will be senior day for Hidalgo and Gordon Watson.
Last Serve with the Gamecocks
The Gators jumped to a quick 1-0 lead on Feb. 28, 2015 in Gainesville by grabbing the doubles point. Hidalgo and Lipman would win their respective singles matches and Chase Perez-Blanco clinched the match for Florida at 4-1.
