GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Gators will continue its fall slate this weekend with a trip to Tallahassee for the 2019 Bedford Cup, hosted by Florida State University. Andy Andrade, Greysen Cacciatore and Blaise Bicknell will represent the blue and orange over the weekend, as play begins Friday, Oct. 11 and continues through Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Scott Speicher Memorial Tennis Center.
The field of competition proves to be competitive, as five of the eight programs competing for this year's Bedford Cup finished in the ITA final team rankings in May. The programs competing include Stetson, North Florida, USF (No. 34), FAU (No. 63), UCF (No. 31), Bethune-Cookman, and Florida State (26).
Junior Andy Andrade last competed at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships in Athens, Ga. on Sept. 27-29, as Andrade notched a semifinals appearance in the Red Singles Draw, tallying two singles wins in the event's Red Singles Draw.
Freshman Blaise Bicknell has put together a solid fall slate thus far, compiling a 6-2 record through singles and 3-0 record in doubles competition. Bicknell also last competed at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships, finishing a strong 3-1 weekend in singles, including a ranked win over Texas' No. 122 Chih Chi Huang. Additionally, Bicknell notched a doubles title alongside Duarte Vale in his first collegiate tournament at the Seahawk Fall Invite on Sept. 13-15, while reaching the finals of the top singles draws.
Greysen Cacciatore is back in action this weekend after a brief hiatus, last competing at the Seahawk Fall Invite in Wilmington, N.C. on Sept. 13-15. After a tough start to the weekend, Greysen managed to pick up two doubles wins alongside Harrison Cacciatore to finish out the Gators' opening fall weekend on a strong note.
