
Dudeney, Shelton to Make an All-Gators Singles Final at Bedford Cup

TAMPA, Fla. – Doubles pair Bente Spee and Emma Shelton as well as Alicia Dudeney and Shelton will make a doubles and singles final, respectively, after winning five total matches on Saturday, October 2 at the Bedford Cup.
Shelton collected three wins on the second day of the tournament. The No. 1-seeded Gator defeated FIU's Kamila Umarova, 6-1, 6-4, then took on teammate Spee in the semifinals and won by two scores of 6-3, making her first finals appearance of the season.
Spee and Shelton were the No. 1-seeded pairing in doubles play as they made it to the finals with a victory over 3-seed Nandini Sharma and Marie Mattel of UCF with a score of 6-1. The duo will face FIU's Ines Bekrar and Yasmine Kabbaj in tomorrow's doubles finals.
Emily De Oliveira and Dudeney also collected a doubles win on the day after overtaking the 2-seeded duo, Jaleesa Leslie and Nadja Bay Christians of UCF, 6-3.
No. 2-seed Dudeney joins Shelton for an all Gators singles finals after tallying a couple singles wins on the day. She would overpower Mattel by scores of 6-1, then beat 4-seed Sharma (UCF), 6-4, 6-1, en route to the finals.
Before Spee took on Shelton in the semifinals, she pulled out a dominating win over Leslie (UCF), 6-1, 6-0. Sydney Berlin also collected a win over North Florida's Sean Lodzki by demanding scores of 6-1, 6-0.
Florida will compete in the final day of the Bedford Cup tomorrow, October 3.
