CLEMSON, S.C. – The Florida Track and Field team opened the 2022 Indoor Season by taking nine event titles including a pair of wins from sprinter Talitha Diggs in the 60m and 300m.
On the women's side, the Gators won six of the 11 events they had athletes competing in. Diggs ran a personal best of 36.37 in the 300m on Sunday afternoon, setting a new school record in the process. It's the second-fastest time in the NCAA this season and the fourth-fastest time in NCAA history.
Jumper Natricia Hooper jumped an impressive 13.60m to set a new PR in the triple jump and become the NCAA leader in the event. Paired with the men's triple jump victory from Jonathan Miller, the Gators swept the event at the Clemson Invite.
In his debut weekend for Florida, sprinter Jacory Patterson obliterated his own PR and his former NCAA record in the 300m with a time of 31.99 seconds. He became the world leader, facility leader, school record holder and the NCAA record holder all with the same run.
He becomes only the seventh person in world history to run a sub-32 300m.
Distance runner Imogen Barrett ran a 2:05.46 in the 800m, breaking her personal best in the process. Her time is good enough for 9th in Florida school history and is the second fastest time in the NCAA this season.
Thrower Thea Jensen came in 2nd in the Shot Put (16.05m) while sprinter Semira Killebrew came in 5th in the 200m (23.74). Sprinter Tyler Davis ran a 20.92 in the 200m to finish in third.
The Gators closed out the weekend in the 4x400 relay where the women's team of Taylor Manson, Sterling Lester, Doneisha Anderson and Anna Hall ran a 3:33.11 to win the event. Their time clocked in as the second fastest in the NCAA this year.
The Gators return to the track in two weeks when they make a second trip to Clemson for the Bob Pollock meet. Florida will also send runners to Kentucky the same weekend for the Rod McCravy Memorial meet.
