
Gators Post Two Ranked Wins Against No. 55 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Tallying two ranked singles wins on the day, the No. 2 Florida Gators collected its seventh conference win after defeating the No. 55 Arkansas Razorbacks, 6-1, on Friday evening.
The Gators (15-2, 7-0 SEC) stay atop the SEC standings after a dominating performance over the Razorbacks (10-9, 1-5 SEC).
Once again, strong doubles play highlighted the beginning of the match as all three doubles teams dominated their opponents. On court three, Nate Bonetto and Duarte Vale were up on Hunter Harrison and Jacob Sweeney, 5-2, when the doubles point was clinched.
Florida, for the 10th match in a row, won the doubles point after two decisive wins on courts one and two. At No. 2 doubles, the No. 27 pairing of Andy Andrade and Mattias Siimar only allowed the team of Adrien Burdet and Melvin Manuel two games as the Gators won by a score of 6-2. This victory now marks the 99th doubles win in Siimar's career.
Then, at court one, the newly ranked No. 11 team of Sam Riffice and Ben Shelton overtook the Razorback tandem of Alex Reco and Nico Rousset, 6-3, to claim the 1-0 lead heading into singles.
The Gators had another match of solid singles play as the team won five of its six singles matches, including two against ranked opponents.
No. 26 Riffice put on a clinic at court two against Rousset as he keeps his win streak alive, posting his eighth consecutive singles victory in a row with a straight-set win by scores of 6-3, 6-0.
Senior and No. 93-ranked player, Andrade, continues to win, pushing his career singles victory total to 127 after his impressive performance at court four. Taking on Burdet, the senior from Bradenton, Fla., defeated the Razorback, 6-0, 6-4, to give the Gators a 3-0 lead.
Arkansas was able to get a point back after collecting a win at court three, but that was the only match the SEC foe would win as Florida closed out the match with three-straight victories.
No. 120 Josh Goodger tallied his first clinch of the season as he battled with Manuel on court five. The Gator dropped the first set, 3-6, but would come back and only give up two games in the remaining sets to win 3-6, 6-1, 6-1, and clinch the match for Florida.
The top-ranked player in the country gave the Orange & Blue another point on the night at No. 1 singles. Competing against No. 107 Reco, Shelton was able to post a straight-set victory as he won 7-6 (6), 6-4, for his 10th consecutive singles win.
The clutch freshman, Nate Bonetto, closed out the match with a battle on court six against No. 67 Aleksa Bucan. Bonetto won a tiebreaker first set, 7-6 (1), before losing the next set, 3-6. The Bend, Ore., native solidified his win with a 6-2 third set to pick up his fourth overall ranked win of the year and first in dual match play.
