
Gators Close Out the Bedford Cup

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Gators sent two players to compete in the 2025 Bedford Cup over the weekend. Kevin Edengren and Francesco Cordova each played in the singles portion of the tournament and competed together as doubles partners.
Cordova began his singles run against Jules Garot of Miami in the round of 32. Cordova fell to Garot in a close, three-set match which led him to compete in the consolation bracket. However, Cordova had to retire in the first set of his consolation bracket match against Kartik Mandla from Stetson University.
Edengren began the tournament on a first round bye, which caused him to face UCF's Kai-Luca Ampaw, who he fell to in two sets. Moving into the consolation bracket after the loss, Edengren did not drop another match the entire tournament putting him on top in the consolation bracket. In this run, Edengren defeated Mihnea Maftei from Stetson (7-6(4), 6-3) and Tanner Povey from FGCU (6-3, 6-4).
Cordova's early retirement in singles, forced the doubles run for him and Edengren to come to an end. Prior to the pair withdrawing, they defeated Christopher Smith and Stefan Correa from FGCU 8-7(5).
