AS A SOPHOMORE (2008): Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll…Lone appearance of the season occurred on Feb. 27, when he popped up to second base as a pinch hitter in the first meeting with Eastern Michigan.
AS A FRESHMAN (2007): Started 10 games at designated hitter and was 10-for-42 (.238) in 23 games...Scored five times...Hit .231 (6-for-26) with three runs in 14 league outings...Was 2-for-3 and cranked a key double in the final encounter with Alabama...Started the first two meetings with Vanderbilt at DH and was 0-for-6 with four strikeouts...Came off the bench in the finale and was 1-for-2, including a pinch-hit single when batting for Matt LaPorta...Started the final two games against Kentucky at DH and was 1-for-4 with an RBI double...Scored on Cody Neer’s three-run walk-off homer in game two versus South Carolina as a pinch runner...Started twice at Georgia and went 1-for-5...Connected on his first career HR with a two-run jack as part of the six-run sixth inning during game one...Made SEC debut on March 25 at Auburn and was 1-for-2 with a single, run and an HBP...Went 1-for-4 (.250) against GW and had a double in game two...Delivered a pinch-hit single at USF...Poked hits in his first two collegiate at bats and finished 2-for-4 in the 7-0 blanking of Kent State on Feb. 24.
HIGH SCHOOL: Played right field, left field, first base, third base and pitcher for head coach Todd Boyd at Tate High School and was a three-year letterwinner…The Aggies claimed the 2005 Florida Class 4A state championship with a 28-2 record…Hicks earned first-team all-state and first-team all-area as a junior after batting .420 with 32 runs batted in, four home runs and four stolen bases…Turned in a 5-0 record and a 1.50 earned run average as a hurler…Picked up third-team all-state and second-team all-area kudos as a sophomore, when he hit .409 with 42 RBI as Tate reached the final four of the state tournament and was 26-4…Member of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
