Women's tennis sends Sydney Berlin and Tsveta Dimitrova to Fort Myers for USTA Tourney

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Florida women's tennis players Sydney Berlin and Tsveta Dimitrova are set to make their fall season debuts this weekend, Oct. 4-6, when they travel to Fort Myers for the Bedford Cup hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University.

The sophomore Berlin and the senior Dimitrova will take part in both singles and doubles action.

Berlin and Dimitrova are set to compete in a 48-player singles field, separated into three 16-player draws, and a 32-player doubles draw.

Berlin, now in her second season of collegiate competition after joining the Gators in January, won four of her last five matches and finished the dual match campaign with a mark of 8-6. Dimitrova, the senior transfer from Houston, has the most experience of any Gator on the roster as she enters the season with 60 collegiate victories under her belt.

The two Gators will go up against athletes from USF, UCF, FGCU, North Florida, Stetson, FAU, and FIU.

Doubles play kicks off the action Friday morning as Berlin and Dimitrova are set to battle Sandra Bozinovic and Maria Turrillo of FIU at 8 a.m.

Shortly after the conclusion of her doubles bout, Dimitrova returns for her first singles match of the day, taking on FAU junior Natalia Boltinskaya at 9 a.m. At 11 a.m., Berlin squares off with UNF's Sean Lodzki.

Dimitrova will wrap up her day with another singles match at 12:30 p.m. while Berlin is slated to play again at 2:30 p.m.
