Boca Raton, Fla. – The Gators close out their hidden dual weekend after playing a series of matches at Evert Tennis Academy against opponents from Clemson, Michigan, Illinois and Arizona.
Arizona (11), Illinois (24) and Clemson (25) all received rankings in the top-25 for the preseason. While Florida was not listed in the top-25 rankings, they were one of five schools receiving votes.
The matches served as an introduction to the spring season, but were not counted towards the overall team record. However, the matches did provide the team with a chance to test their skills against ranked nonconference opponents and added to each players' individual record for the season.
Ranked No. 6 by the ITA in doubles, Henry Jefferson and Tanapatt Nirundorn totaled a record of 2-1 with wins coming against Viktor Markov/Manuel Plunger from Clemson and Filip Gustaffon/Glib Sekachov from Arizona. The Gators duo of newcomer Lorenzo Claverie and Pablo Ramos Perez saw a record of 0-2, while Kevin Edengren and Andreas Timini totaled a 1-1 record in their first outing together.
In singles, Ramos came out with an undefeated 2-0 record. While Jefferson and Nirundron held a 1-1, Timini and Francesco Cordova went 1-2 and Claverie and Edengren ended with an 0-3 record.
The Gators totaled a 2-3 record against ranked opponents throughout the weekend across both singles and doubles matches.
