AS A SENIOR (2007): Named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll…Did not see any action for the Gators.
AS A JUNIOR (2006): Appeared in three games out of the bullpen for the Gators and pitched 2.1 innings…Had a couple of strikeouts and permitted one walk…Tossed one inning apiece in victories over Harvard and Florida A&M…Struck out the only batter he faced in his Florida debut versus Cincinnati.
AT SANTA FE C.C. (2004-05): Attended Santa Fe Community College for two years before transferring to UF but did not play baseball for the Saints.
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner at Santa Fe High School under former Florida standout Dave Majeski…The Raiders captured the District 3A championships three years in a row during Thompson's tenure between 2000-02…The southpaw registered a 28-14 career record and earned the team's Pitcher of the Year award four-straight times…Chosen second-team all-area in 2002 after going 7-4 with a 2.52 earned run average and a career-high 84 strikeouts…Collected second-team all-state and first-team all-area recognition as a junior, when he was 11-0 and registered a 1.22 ERA…Was a four-time scholar-athlete award recipient at SFHS.
