
Florida heads to Seattle for ITA National Indoor Championship

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida men's tennis will be on the road once again this weekend to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Indoor Championship. The tournament is being played in Seattle, Washington and runs from Friday, Feb. 16 to Monday, Feb. 19.
The ITA Indoor Championships is a single elimination tournament, with each team being guaranteed at least three matches. Florida will open the tournament against SEC foe Texas A&M on Friday, Feb. 16 at 3 p.m. (ET). The Gators and Aggies will be playing at the Seattle Tennis Club which only has live scoring that can be found HERE.
The tournament is being played at two sites, the Seattle Tennis Club and the University of Washington's Nordstrom Tennis Center. Florida's first two matches will be at the Seattle Tennis Club which means only live scoring will be provided Friday and Saturday. You can also follow the coverage on our twitter page HERE.
The 43rd Indoor Championship features a talented 16-team field, with 15 of the 16 teams ranked in the ITA top 25 rankings. The teams competing this weekend in order of seed are Wake Forrest, Ohio State, North Carolina, Georgia, Stanford, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, Oklahoma State, Illinois, Florida, Baylor, Columbia, Notre Dame, Duke, and Washington.
SEC Freshman of the Week
Andy Andrade earned his first SEC honor on Wednesday after a strong weekend against No. 13 Michigan and No. 2 Ohio State. Andrade won his fourth match of the season, and first against an opponent ranked in the ITA singles rankings. He defeated Ohio State's No. 30 ranked singles athlete Kyle Seelig 6-3, 4-6, 1-0, while also battling back from an early hole against Michigan's Carter Lin to take a lead before Florida clinched the match.

• Florida has reached the finals of the ITA Indoor Champions once, back in 2003. The Gators' lost to Illinois, 4-2
• Last season the Gators went 1-2 with a win over Mississippi State. Their two losses were to Texas and Oklahoma
• Since 2010 Florida is 6-12 at the ITA National Indoor Championship
• The last time Florida won multiple matches at the ITA Indoors was in 2010 when they opened the tournament with a win over Baylor. After falling to Ohio State they defeat Georgia
• The last time Washington hosted the ITA Indoors was in 2013. They have hosted in 1999, '04, '06, '08, '11 and '13
